Mandatory Fees

“Mandatory fees” means fees charged to students for a specific purpose, activity, or service. Mandatory fees can be university-wide or differentiated by campus location, delivery method, enrollment level, or other criteria approved by the board. The board must approve all mandatory fees.

Beginning in the 2024-2025 academic year, the board approved combining undergraduate mandatory fees into one Student Engagement Fee. As part of the simplification efforts, the board also approved rolling mandatory fees previously approved for graduate students into graduate tuition.

Student Engagement Fee

The combined amount is $1,794, including all the fees listed below. To be effective Fall 2024.

MF Proposals

Pending approval of the Arizona Board of Regents and the University of Arizona preliminary review, proposals for new mandatory fees (MF) or changes to existing ones need to be submitted to us no later than May 1, 2024, for consideration. Fees approved at the next Fall meeting will take effect in Summer 2025, Fall 2025, or Spring 2026. Any term before the previously mentioned are no longer available for fee implementation.

To request a new or modify an existing MF, complete the related ABOR form found on this website's Forms & Resource section. Email the completed form to the University Fees Manager.

* ABOR meets in November of each year to approve tuition and academic fees for the next academic year for those fees that are new or exceed the allotted growth rate.

All amounts shown in the fees list or in other University publications or web pages represent fees as currently approved. However, The University of Arizona reserves the right to increase or modify fees without prior notice, upon approval by the Arizona Board of Regents or as otherwise consistent with Board policy and to make such modifications applicable to students enrolled at UA at that time as well as to incoming students. In addition, all  fees are subject to change at any time for correction of errors. Finally, please note that fee amounts billed for any period may be adjusted at a future date.
