Undergraduate Proposal Approval Table

Proposals for creating new undergraduate plans (majors, minors, emphases (sub-plans), and certificates*) and modifying and/or disestablishing existing undergraduate plans go through several committees for review and approval. Use the table below to determine the form(s) needed for the proposal, learn about the approval routing, and view the proposal due dates.

The table below assumes departments are making a single type of change. If more than one change is requested and at least one of the changes requires submission of the "Request for Curricular Changes Form", then departments must submit all requested changes on the "Request for Curricular Changes Form".

  • ABOR = Arizona Board of Regents*

  • CAAC = College Academic Administrators Council

  • FS = Faculty Senate

  • PC = Provost's Council

  • UGC = Undergraduate Council

  • UWGEC = University-wide General Education Committee

Please contact Curricular Affairs to discuss the approval process and best practices.  We can meet with your department to discuss the forms, provide examples of strong proposals, and give you feedback on your drafts.

*Proposals are sent to ABOR after receiving CAAC approval. ABOR's Academic Affairs and Educational Attainment Committee reviews/votes on the proposals before forwarding to full ABOR. ABOR approval is the only external approval required. Proposals must receive approval from all UA internal committees and ABOR before implementation, marketing, admitting students, etc.
